Uh I think that's because of her childish attitude in that situation. In fact she wasn't at all behaving like a soldier but as a jelous and selfless little girl.

Gwen: "The charr keep our hands full, Krytan. You think we'll abandon all that we've bled for and march down to Kryta, just to bail you out?"
Evennia: "The only thing I expect girl, is that the Vanguard would express gratitude after Kryta took in so many Ascalonion refugees!"
Captain Langmar: "Gwen has a valid point, Evennia. Ascalon needs the Vanguard here in the Shiverpeaks. However, we have no love for the White Mantle... should we agree, what is Princess Salma prepared to do for Ascalon?"
Gwen said nothing childish before Evennia called her a girl, she had a valid point as Langmar said. There was nothing childish about it.

Maybe it was for all her poses and for she would have tried to find every excuse to keep thackeray there?
But maybe you're right, in that part there's nothing childish, I didn't remember the exact part of dialogue you were referring to.

The "bail you out" part is probably what ticked Evennia off. Like the SB got themselves into that mess, and Kryta has never done anything for Ascalon.

Agreed, in my opinion it's how Gwen said it that comes off as childish. Not only that, but Gwen is....19 isn't she? That could alter how Evennia sees her.

Frankly, I'm enjoying ALL of it. The bounties. The courier escort. The new enemies. The new drops. It's all fun.
About Gwen... I really don't like her at all. It's seems whoever is in charge of her dialogue is doing a very poor job of making her a sympathetic character. Almost everytime she speaks it's to rage, whine or complain about something. The only time I can think of where she sounds reasonable is when you talk to her in the HoM. She says, in a very nice voice "how can I help?". But every other time she opens her mouth, I cringe.

Well, lets be honest, how could you NOT expect her to be like that? Her world came to an end in perhaps the worst way possible. She was a prisoner of the Charr for seven years, during which time they did god knows what to her. Under similar circumstances, can you say that you'd come out of it all smiles and rainbows?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Gwen is the only person who actually suffered during the searing, I know for a fact that no other Ascalonian lost their families to the Charr, and she is undoubtedly the only child to have lived through that horrible ordeal...
Seriously, I don't recall Erol turning into a whiny bitch the second he was freed from years of Charr captivity...
Keiran seems to be of a similar age to Gwen, he lives everyday fighting the Charr out in the field, and he still loses friends to them while Gwen is sulking about in the tower... he seems to somehow have managed to not turn into a pathetic little emo...
Gwen is just a whiny little fail-bunny, somebody buy her a red cloak and flute, maybe she'll shut the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO up for a while...

1). Not all of those Ascalonians were prisoners.
2). Erol was only a prisoner for two years, and he was an adult when he was taken.
3). Not everyone copes with trauma the same way. Some people shut themselves away, others surround themselves with people to keep themselves busy and their minds off said trauma. Oh, and just because someone is sad and angry does NOT automatically make them a damned Emo. Emos act that way to seem cool.
Gwen may not be nice, her behavior might not make her sympathetic, but she IS believable, and quite frankly that is all that matters.

I also think she has all the reason to behave like that, to have a similar personality forged by all her suffering. And remember how she was as a child, when we first met her. An happy and joyful child, jumping around all the day. Just think what all the searing and captivity may have done to such a child. And then see how she's fragile under her coat, but she thinks better to hide it and look strong, other way she would be destroyed, by pain and everything else. At least, that's how I see her. For sure seen from a casual meeter she looks like the most hateble and childish person in the word, a stubborn little girl, and that's for sure how Evennia (correct me if I'm wrong but I don't recall she knows anything personal about Gwen) sees her in their meeting.

I like that mobs kill the bosses for me
I was doing todays quest (Amalek) and while I'm still quite a bit away from the quest mob the quest updates.
So the group of mantles before were killed by a group of ***goyles with a mesmer boss in it (Hew Gruntruck), I kill those and go for the group where the mantle boss should be and they had been killed by Tengu of which only 2 were still alive.
Another advantage of doing it in HM since obviously that couldn't happen in normal.
Still found it rather amusing

I'll tell you what I DON'T line right now. and that's needing to go from fraking LA clear over to the southern shiverpeaks to get my canthan and elononian characters infused. Combined with all the lag and disconnects today, I'm just about fed up with the whole WiK crap.

Infusion is pretty much required for melee characters. Especially assassins and dervishes who don't have the luxury of a shield for the extra AL. So not only are they getting pummeled by the mantle melee and spells, they're also the prime target for spectral agony. Even without the other stuff, 600 damage in five seconds from SA is no joke.

They could always have updated infusion into a simple Title, when active your infused, no need to do that mission every time you buy another piece of armor.

To be fair, we've never seen any child prisoners of the Charr. Probably because they were all killed for sport (see: Gwen's escape).

Erol was a soldier, Gwen a small child. Big difference.

First off, I think he's probably a tad bit older. Secondly, he obviously volunteered as a soldier.

I'll leave you with this: let's see how you would fare in a similar situation. Imagine if, instead of this nice cushy life you have now, you watched your family (and entire nation) get engulfed in flames, grew up in a slave camp where you were tortured regularly, and developed ridiculous mental powers at a very young age with which you can literally kill someone. Tell me you wouldn't be just a tad screwy in the head.

Ridiculously hard? I have yet to need a second go at a boss for anything in the War in Kryta except for the one time I got stupid and decided to play with pugs instead of H&H.
